Dr. Paul Nielsen, Principal, is a specialist in academic, industrial and research environments, as well as aerospace and defense. He has the expertise to assist businesses, institutions and agencies in emerging markets and growth industries, particularly in high technology, artificial intelligence, aerospace and military ground and air environments.
Paul co-founded Soar Technology, Inc., a firm focused on research and development for massive scale military simulations for battlefield training, speech interaction with simulated entities, and command and control of unmanned vehicles. Paul began his career in research at the University of Illinois' Department of Computer Science and the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the General Electric Corporate Research & Development Center. He was a member of the faculty of the University of Michigan's College of Engineering. Paul was recently with Kaidara Software and Altarum Institute, providing program management, proposal development, and human behavior modeling. He has worked with the Detroit Executive Services Council mentoring non-profit businesses.
Paul holds a B.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has published over 40 papers, articles, and book chapters on topics such as human behavior modeling, expert systems, human factors, intelligence, smart relays, supervisory controls, and qualitative physics. He has held both Department of Defense and NATO Secret clearances.
